Our New Cat, Rusty

Well we did it.. We got a new cat. We call him: Rusty.

Today we headed on over to the Animal Humane Society and looked around for a very long time for the perfect cat. We were introduced to this 6month old, handsome cat that reacted very cool with us. He wasn't scared or nervous by the kids and loved to be held.. He has purrrrrrred non-stop since we brought him home.

He reminds me of a very tamed, relaxing beach bum. He's just so welcoming and is the nicest cat.
He has adjusted to his new home and new family very nicely..

He even likes Ricardo!! hahahaaaa!! And Ricardo likes him.. :)

The kids can't get enough of their new pet and love him so much.

Instead of getting a very small kitten the 6m old cat is easier to take care of, especially when we're out of the house for awhile..

He's just the "cool cat's pajamas"...

"I Loved Lucy"

The year was 1996. Ricardo and I decided to get a cat..Or more like "I" wanted to get a cat. We went to the pound. I was looking at all the little kitties, cooing at all of them until Ricardo came up to me and asked, "what about this one?"..I turned around fell in love instantly with my little Lulu.. Lucy was crying out to us..I started to cry and said, "That's the one".. And history speaks for itself..Looking at all the pictures you'll know why I loved Lucy sooo much.

This was the first picture I took of Lu. So small so cute..

When Joey was born Lucy was very curious wondering, "what is this thing?"

As you can see, Lucy was very patient and kind..She didn't care if we put our new baby on top of her.. What cat allows that? She was a trooper.
Of course as Joey got older he got a little rough at times. But Lucy still tolerated the abuse: hehe..

Strings were a lot of fun for my little Lu..

Joey's bean bag turned into "Lucy's bean bag"..That was a common place for Lucy to lay in.

She even tolerated Raquel's extreme behavior. Dancing was not quite her thing, but she did it anyways.

I decided to be a cat for Halloween one year..Mama and baby Lucy..

Some of you may or may not have known Lucy, but she was my baby before Joey and Raquel were born. She was feisty, so kind, loving, funny, playful, a good companion and most of all just a wonderful cat. She would cry and cry for food, or to be let outside. Or inside that is.. When I asked her if she was hungry she would Meow to me..That is something very rare with cats. Even though she made me crazy at times(like any animal) I loved her with all my heart. She will be missed so very much.

I love you Lucy..We will meet again someday.

My princess's

Raquel stayed home from school because she had a little cold. I found her, in my bed, with all her webkinz laying in a row.. Cutie!

And here is Lucy: She was very ill a few weeks ago and became a different cat after getting well. She wouldn't touch any dry food I tried to feed her with or anything else I put in front of her. This is a new spot where she loves spending her time. I knew she was hungry so I put her food where she was laying..The little princess she has become!

Lucy and The Xmas Tree

This is Lucy's favorite time of the year. Her Xmas Tree is back! She adores the tree. She loves rubbing herself against it, hiding behind the tree, and laying underneath it. The kids got a huge kick out of this first picture of Lucy. They were laughing and laughing so hard because her eyes look funny, and she looks like she's smiling..

Trying to get Lucy out from behind the tree, the kids put some of her food near the front. Did it work? Not really. She ate the food, but went back behind the tree..

Eating Nature

One of things I dislike the most is finding my cat(outside that is) chewing on a grasshopper. Nawing and chewing, nawing and chewing..Poor grasshopper..Not a pretty sight. Joey said: "That's gross and sad! That was nature!" Raquel said: "Yew!" Yew is right. I told Joey that cats do things like that! Lucy likes grasshoppers.. Hopefully she won't throw it up on my bed. Right now I just closed my back door and let her be outside with the nature..I don't want her kissing my cheek anytime soon..Yuck!

Gorilla Chase

Nina and the kids came tonight for a little BBQ..Ron wasn't feeling well, so he didn't show up..Hope you're doing better, Ron!!!

Ricardo dressed up in his "Gorilla" costume and chased the kids around..That was funny!

After all the excitement Joey interviewed Nina for his school Project. He had to interview 3 family members about "what does education mean to you?"....Thanks Nina for answering Joey's questions!! It's so great you're here to do that for him!

The Spider Returns

What is it with Spiders hanging over the toilets! It happened to me, again...! UGH... I walk into my bathroom, turn on the light and an ugly, black with white, spider was dangling eye to eye with me..I screamed this time..Ricardo wasn't home to hear the shriek, so that was good..Raquel came running and wondered what happened.. At least I had her to talk with.. Anyways, always, always turn on the light before you step into the bathroom..You never know what might stand in your way..

Lizzy the Lizard

Papa found a tiny lizard, in the backyard..The kids got a thrill out of seeing it. They named it "Lizzy".

Poor Lucy

Tonight Lucy was going crazy with cleaning her fur. I started petting her and realized how wet she was. I thought she got wet from the hose or something, but Ricardo informed me that Raquel put soap on Lucy. I just shook my head and smiled. It's just like Raquel to do something like that to Lucy. Lucy puts up a lot from her. Thank goodness she's such a nice cat..Poor Lu.. What am I gonna do about my Raquel? LOL.

Don't you hate it?

Don't you hate when you wake up real early in the morning and you have to go the bathroom? You don't want to get out of your comfy bed, but you have to. You go into the bathroom, turn on the light, turn around, and there's a HUGE spider dangling from above the potty! At first you weren't going to turn on the light, but changed your mind..Thank God you did..That's what happened to me this morning! When I saw the spider hanging away I wanted to scream, but didn't..I just covered my mouth, with my hands, and stared at the spider.. It was not a pretty spider, but what spiders are? In the end I killed the bastard(excuse my language)..I did get a little tangled with web though.. What a nice wake up call this was for me.. Tata for now!

Goodbye Charlie!

I did forget to mention one thing while Sionna was visiting..I forget which day this took place on, but it was some time during the week. Joey and Raquel's fish, Charlie, died. He wasn't looking so good for the last month or so. I had a feeling he would croak any day. Of course the week Sionna comes to visit, Charlie dies. This happened last year too. We found a hurt bird and took care of it. The girls named it "Barbie"..That was the cutest! But the next morning it had died. Anyways the kids & I buried Charlie next to our dead mouse, Mary. She died last year at this time as well. Joey said he's gonna miss the fish..He took it the hardest, but he'll be ok.
