End of the "YEARBOOK"

So the school year is almost done...By this time next friday my son will be a Highschooler and my daughter will be a 7th grader.. It really is hard to believe... 
They have received their yearbooks and getting many signatures from friends and teachers... What was cool was seeing a lot of pictures of them two in the book.. Joey happens to have 2 pages worth about him! A great picture from his school play and then a little article..

I think I'm gonna Change our names from Salcedo to Salsado LOL.. The editors (which are children) messed up on Raquel's whole name! She was not happy..

And here is the end of the yearbook. The parents of the 8th graders were able to purchase a little spot  to say something to their kids.. Joey cried when he read it..

AS you can see my kids have been super involved in their school.. What a year it was!

"Stars"

This has been a week of proud accomplishments within our household. First my baby girl received her 4.0 GPA award certificate and my son starred as "Daddy Warbucks" in his school play, "Annie Jr."... 

I couldn't be more proud of these two "Stars"... They never seize  to amaze me..

My Two Cents

Let me get this out of the way.. I REALLY DESPISE MY KIDS PE TEACHER!...

Anyways, she is the most heartless, SOB, teacher my kids have ever had... Unfortunately Joey has had her 3 years in a row! The first year for Advisory and the rest for PE.. Of course my daughter had to get her for her first year in Middle School.. Just her luck.. Or my luck? I don't know.. Her grading sucks! She doesn't grade fairly and is insulting ... Right now she is having the kids do a lame Line Dancing routine and it's supposed to be a huge part of the grade.. Seriously? Line Dancing? The kids have to make up their own line Dance and present it later on in the month.. I believe she is the only PE teacher doing this.. It's truly ridiculous! My straight "A" daughter now has a "B" in the class because of her slow running or walking.. Which ever.. I believe if you participate, are dressed up, then that's what matters the most.. Not with this teacher.. Ugh.. It really sucks.. She has been complained about my numerous parents, including myself, to our Vice Principal.. So far I haven't seen any improvement.. So today I wrote her a letter and CC'd it to the VP.. Not that she will ever read it or change anything, but I gave it a chance... I simply will NOT allow Raquel to have her next year.. Even she dislikes this lady.. Awful, unkind, ungrateful, person.. She needs to retire already.. Here is the letter I sent to her..

Mrs. Sander,

I've noticed Joey's grade has gone down significantly since last week.. Did you get my emails regarding his Play Performances and 8th grade east coast trip? 

He will not be in School the day you have the class do the line dancing test.. Is this test for all kids who do PE or is just your classes?? I'm concerned because Joey participates with every sport you present but his grade has gone down from a B to a C... Joey has been working so hard in all his other classes even though he had late night performances last week.. He has not had time to think of a Dance for PE. I'm not sure your reasons for this assignment? I may be over reacting but I feel he should not have to worry about a dancing test when it should be about teaching dances and sports.. That is my opinion.. 

Joey is taking Raquel's steps to incorporate into his own as well.. He has the paper filled out and ready for you to check.

  

And I've noticed Raquel's Grade has been a B for awhile now..She's receiving her 4.0 GPA award this month.. And I'm disappointed to see that the "A" she had in the beginning has dropped.. She told me she had you look at her dance, but I haven't seen a change in the scoring you gave her.. Plus her running/walking has not been a 5 lately.. What do you consider a 5 when you are walking?

I hate to think about PE grades when I have so many other things to worry about with Joey and Raquel.. They work really hard and do their best, every day..

Gold Dust Or Bust

Raquel's 4th grade class has been learning about California's Missions and the old Gold Rush Days.. They have put on a few singing performances for the younger grades and parents.. The kids did such a great job and worked really hard..
Yesterday I watched it for the first time and used the Digital recorder. It didn't take the best pictures, but At least I got a couple good ones of Raquel..She wore her brothers flannel shirt and her Papa's Hat. And she actually let me put her hair in braids.. Today my new camera arrived..I took a couple more shots of her performance and video'd her singing..I think she is such a great little performer. She gets into the character and doesn't seem the bit shy..But my "little star" has a short career in acting...Next year she will be doing choir in school so that will give me another chance to see her "shine" again.. :-)

Every year the school has a Potluck.

The kids put on a show for the parents, but Unfortunatly I don't have any pics of Joey on stage.. The video I took of them are too big for the blog.. But it was a joy to see them have such a good time doing their dances..

First Day of School

Well here we are.. Another Year, another grade. Joey is now in 5th grade and Raquel in 3rd. It's hard to believe that this is Joey's last year of Elementary school.. I'm so proud of how far he has become in school. So smart and unique..

Raquel is another smarty pants. So small but so full of skill. She is ready to take on the 3rd grade and to fill her brain with new information.

Lion King Play

Even though Raquel thinks she hates being in front of an audience, she really has grown to be more confident and portrays herself like a little star.. I also believe it has something to do with Her Brownie Troop.. Sharing in front of the girls really helps with her self esteem.

Anyways the week of school getting out for summer Raquel was in a little play, "The Lion King". She was the character, Zazu. Her art teacher thought she was the best one in the play.. Her voice was loud and she had a lot of character.. I'm soooo very proud of her.. I knew she could do it!

For those who cannot see the video's I will try to email them to you. You can't miss seeing this.. She was so good!

And yes, she has a little british accent.. Classic!
